Reptiles Are on the Hit List for Spring

Pic:  FGR and vanityfair.com
If one thing is certain in this world it is that the fashion people know what us ordinary consumers want. A decade after the introduction of platform flip flops and stuffed animal backpacks, they do it again.

For all the adventurous ladies and gents out there I would suggest investing in the March issues of French magazine Jalouse and world famous Vanity Fair if only for their fearless display of the closeted Crocodile Hunter in all of us on their covers. Reptiles are in this spring, just make sure yours is office friendly.

Street Cred

Ran into the lovely Yunji from Singles (South Korean fashion mag) during the New York Fashion Week a month ago. Immediately followed an impromptu photo shoot at the Lincoln Center.  This is the result.

Ricardo Tisci, will you marry me (or at least design my wedding gown)?

Cate Blanchett was the best-dressed at the Oscars yesterday night, hands down (don't believe me? click here or here). She wore one of my all-time favorite Givenchy dress, a pale lilac number designed by fashion god Ricardo Tisci for the brand's Spring 2011 Couture collection. Tisci's clothes were inspired by Japan, hence the all-asian models lineup and the crazy warrior hats sported by some of the girls below in the pictures. Please click on them for a closer look. Swoon!

H2O

Lorsque j'ai vu cette photo de Anna Dello Russo sur le site de The Sartorialist, j'ai immédiatement pensé à la bouteille Evian signée Christian Lacroix circa 2008. La ressemblance est frappante!

Muddy Tanning Beds

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Campaign, pics: FGR

When Style.com finally displayed Marc's latest ready-to-wear collection on its online pages, you bet I was au rendez-vous. His clothes made me nostalgic: childhood chunky knits and my mother's pointed toe shoes were remembered fondly. 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' was part of the runway show's soundtrack, getting the picture? Now sadly the magic is gone and the only thing I can think of gazing at the brand's Fall 2010 ad campaign is a documentary I watched recently addressing all sorts of skin diseases you get out of exposing yourselves to tanning lamps. When bad things happen to good clothes, sad sad.

Long, Long Time Ago
